Here's another stand-up comedy clip. A lot of the same jokes, but there's some new stuff in there too.
This show was better. Not in the level of laughs... actually, from a point of view, this is what it looks like when I bomb. The energy level in the room was pretty low. I was, however, the second-to-last comic in a line-up of about 15, so I didn't go on until close to midnight. And since this was an open-mic, most of the comedians weren't superstars or anything. I'm hardly a superstar myself, but I do honestly think that I would have gotten more laughs if I went on earlier in the evening. A night of mostly not-funny comedians definitely wears an audience out, and towards the end everyone's shifting in their seats, checking the clocks on their cell-phones, and mostly just ready to go home.
The masturbating Abe Lincoln joke got basically no laughs... disappointing, since my other clip was its debut and it was probably the best joke of the night. Again, I think the audience was just tired more than anything.
This was also the first time I did the "what if weed and alcohol were siblings?" bit, and that worked out pretty well. So that was a nice surprise.
Definitely less nervous fidgeting this time around. Still not totally satisfied with my on-stage performance/demeanor, but I think this is an improvement. I did have about six drinks before going onstage this time around, so that probably had something to do with it. I also didn't forget any of my set (a first!).
I'm opening for that sketch comedy group again on Saturday, so I'll have another clip then. I'll probably be debuting some more new material that night, so stay tuned for the next clip.
